Tuning the shape of nanoparticles to control their catalytic properties: selective hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene on Pd/Al2O3.
TL;DR: Shape-controlled Pd nanoparticles supported on powder alumina are more efficient for selective butadiene hydrogenation to butene when they exhibit high fractions of (111) facets.

Promotional effect of H2 on CO oxidation over Au/TiO2 studied by operando infrared spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown for the first time that H 2 enhances the CO oxidation rate on Au/TiO 2 without leading to any major loss of selectivity, increasing the H 2 pressure induces higher CO and H 2 oxidation rates.
H2-induced promotion of CO oxidation over unsupported gold
E. Quinet,Laurent Piccolo,Helen Daly,Frederic Meunier,Franck Morfin,Ana Valcarcel,Fabrice Diehl,Priscilla Avenier,Valérie Caps,Jean-Luc Rousset +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the kinetics and mechanism of the preferential oxidation of carbon monoxide in the presence of hydrogen (PrOx) over an unsupported gold powder (mean particle size ∼20nm and free of silver) have been investigated using flow fixed bed catalytic testing and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy coupled to mass spectrometry.

Alkene hydrogenation on metal surfaces: Why and when are Pd overlayers more efficient catalysts than bulk Pd?
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared Pd(100, Pd-110 and Pd 8 Ni 92 (110) single-crystal surfaces toward 1,3-butadiene hydrogenation and hydrogen absorption, using a gas-phase static reactor.

Pd(111) versus Pd–Au(111) in carbon monoxide oxidation under elevated pressures
Agnès Piednoir,Agnès Piednoir,M. A. Languille,M. A. Languille,Laurent Piccolo,Ana Valcarcel,F.J. Cadete Santos Aires,J.C. Bertolini +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the oxidation of CO on Pd(111) and Pd70Au30 (111) has been studied under pressures up to 100 Torr and gold is found to decrease the surface activity by inhibiting oxygen dissociation.
