Software reliability estimation using fuzzy logic is shown in this article. The suggested approach tries to assign target dependability to each of its parts. The initial stage in estimating reliability is to combine the aspects of the experts in this proposed method. The system’s element of proportionality is evaluated in the second phase. Employing the equations of defuzzification, the system ele- ments undergo the process of defuzzification. We must compute the weightage of subset of the framework (i.e. module) when we have obtained precise data. The subset’s reliability is estimated, at the root of its weightage. By testing the most often used functions first and less frequently used functions second, the portrait of operational status is determined, which is one of the most impor- tant criteria for ensuring successful testing and increased reliability (Ebeling). Efficiency has improved in comparison to the prior results obtained. It aids in the assignment of reliability to every subsets prior to the frame working of real system. This even takes Operation status into account as element of propor- tionality, which assists in providing reliability to the subsets frequently used, designing a framework for reliability admeasurements, advantageous for all the subsets present.

On the testing resource allocation problem: Research trends and perspectives

Automated Software Testing

Pairwise testing is a wildly used approach in order to reduce the size of test suite and take steps to combinatorial testing problems because of an extensively large number of possible combinations between input parameters and values. In some cases, there will be invalid combinations between input parameters and values if constraints have not been handled. In this paper, we present a pairwise test generation tool called CPTG, a tool to generate test cases for pairwise testing by applying user profile for guiding and prioritizing in order to select optimal input parameters and values which do not depend on individual tester skills and also providing constraint handling solution between input parameters and values. We performed experiments and comparison with other tools. The experimental results of our tool demonstrated that our tool becomes particularly valuable in guiding testing with a maximized reliability by testing the most frequently used of the system and can generate comparable results of the size of the test case set.

A tool for constrained pairwise test case generation using statistical user profile based prioritization

With the increased use of Software-Oriented Architecture in financial, military and other high-reliability fields, the reliability problems of SOA software systems need to be solved. Software reliability testing is an effective way to ensure the quality of software systems, and the usage profile or operational profile is the basis for software reliability testing and even software reliability engineering. This paper presents an overall framework and a method of constructing usage profile for SOA software systems, so as to guide the reliability testing and assessment of SOA-based software systems. We use this method to extract the process of operations from the BPEL to form the main structure of usage profile that we call the usage structure for further use. Then, a method of probability distribution for usage structure is presented to form the whole usage profile. This method can be used to model not only the SOA but other distributed systems.

A Novel Method for Allocating Software Test Cases

Objectives: This paper presents software reliability apportionment using fuzzy logic. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed methodology attempts to allocate target reliability to its modules. For calculation of reliability, the first step is to aggregate the opinion of all team members of ith module. Second step is to calculate proportionality factor of the software system. Defuzzify the Fuzzy Proportionality Factor by using defuzzification formula. After obtaining crisp values, we have to calculate weightage of each module. Based on weightage, reliability of each module is calculated. Findings: Operational Profile is one of the main parameters for making effective testing and improved reliability by testing most used functions in first phase and lesser used function in next phase. Comparing with the previous result, reliability has been improved. Application/Improvements: It helps to allocate reliability to all modules before the actual system is built. Also it considers Operational Profile as a parameter in proportionality factor, which helps to allocate reliability to most used modules, therefore making reliability apportionment beneficial for every module.

Software Reliability Apportionment using Fuzzy Logic

To allocate optimal number of test cases among functions in order to reduce the expected loss of resources like time, cost etc., and a method has been proposed in this paper. Test cases play an important role in software testing. Allocation of test cases should be done according to the function’s significance. There can be many engineering and non-engineering attributes which can provide assumption for function’s priority for test case allocation. In this paper, complexity, cost, criticality, and occurrence probability are taken into consideration for optimal test case allocation problem. Previously, test case allocation was performed only using occurrence probability and criticality. We present a new method to allocate number of test cases among various software operations, by fixing total number of test cases. Proportionality factor in terms of failure probability is derived based on the above-identified allocation factors. Fuzzy numbers are used to represent allocation factors. Centroid’s method of defuzzification has been used for the valuation of failure probability weight. Test case allocation is performed based on the weightage of operation’s failure probability.
