Loss of the retrograde motor for IFT disrupts localization of Smo to cilia and prevents the expression of both activator and repressor functions of Gli
Scott R. May,Amir M. Ashique,Mattias Karlen,Baolin Wang,Yiguo Shen,Konstantinos Zarbalis,Jeremy F. Reiter,Johan Ericson,Andrew S. Peterson +8 more
TL;DR: The retrograde motor for IFT is required in the mouse for the phenotypic expression of both Gli activator and repressor function and for effective proteolytic processing of Gli3.

Retinoic acid from the meninges regulates cortical neuron generation
Julie A. Siegenthaler,Amir M. Ashique,Konstantinos Zarbalis,Katelin P. Patterson,Jonathan H. Hecht,Maureen A. Kane,Alexandra E. Folias,Youngshik Choe,Scott R. May,Tsutomu Kume,Joseph L. Napoli,Andrew S. Peterson,Samuel J. Pleasure +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the dorsal forebrain meninges communicate with the adjacent radial glial endfeet and influence cortical development and establishes RA as a potent, meningeal-derived cue required for successful corticogenesis.

Kinome siRNA Screen Identifies Regulators of Ciliogenesis and Hedgehog Signal Transduction
Marie Evangelista,Tze Yang Lim,James Lee,Leon Parker,Amir M. Ashique,Andrew S. Peterson,Weilan Ye,David Davis,Frederic J. de Sauvage +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a mouse kinome small interfering RNA library was used to identify kinases that positively regulate the Hh pathway in mammals, including Nek1 and Prkra.

Lacunar-canalicular network in femoral cortical bone is reduced in aged women and is predominantly due to a loss of canalicular porosity.
Amir M. Ashique,L. S. Hart,C.D.L. Thomas,John G. Clement,Peter Pivonka,Peter Pivonka,Yasmin Carter,Darrell D. Mousseau,David M. L. Cooper +8 more
TL;DR: The data indicate that the lacunar-canalicular network is diminished in aged women, and is largely due to a decline in the canalicular areal fraction, and that, unlike vascular canal porosity, this diminished LCN is uniform across the cortex.

Supplementary Materials for Kinome siRNA Screen Identifies Regulators of Ciliogenesis and Hedgehog Signal Transduction

TL;DR: The kinase Cdc2l1 interacted with the negative regulator of Hh signaling Suppressor of Fused, thereby relieving its inhibition of the Glioma-associated family of transcription factors and relieved its inhibition on Gli, thus providing a mechanism for how Cdc1l1 might play a role in HH signaling.
