Brown,Marc W. Allard,Peter Gerner-Smidt +31 more
TL;DR: Whole-genome multilocus sequence typing and single nucleotide polymorphism analyses provided equivalent phylogenetic relationships relevant to investigations; results were most useful when interpreted in context of epidemiological data.

Multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to whole apples used in commercially produced, prepackaged caramel apples: United States, 2014-2015.
Kristina M. Angelo,Amanda Conrad,A. Saupe,H. Dragoo,N. West,A. Sorenson,Amber Barnes,Matthew Doyle,Jennifer Beal,Kelly A. Jackson,Steven Stroika,Cheryl L. Tarr,Zuzana Kucerova,Susan Lance,L. H. Gould,Matthew E. Wise,Brendan R Jackson +16 more
TL;DR: This outbreak highlights the importance of minimizing produce contamination with L. monocytogenes, and investigators should perform single-interviewer open-ended interviews when a food is not readily identified.
Multistate Outbreak of Listeriosis Associated with Packaged Leafy Green Salads, United States and Canada, 2015-2016.
Julie L Self,Amanda Conrad,Steven Stroika,Alikeh Jackson,Laura Whitlock,Kelly A. Jackson,Jennifer Beal,Allison Wellman,Marianne K Fatica,Sally Bidol,Paula Pennell Huth,Meghan Hamel,Kristyn Franklin,Lorelee Tschetter,Christine Kopko,Penelope Kirsch,Matthew E. Wise,Colin Basler +17 more
TL;DR: This investigation led to a recall of packaged leafy green salads made at the processing facility, and isolates from case-patients were closely related to US clinical isolates, close to the likelihood of Listeria monocytogenes contamination of fresh produce.

Notes from the field: listeriosis associated with stone fruit--United States, 2014.
Brendan R Jackson,Monique Salter,Cheryl L. Tarr,Amanda Conrad,Emily Harvey,Lisa Steinbock,Amy Saupe,Alida Sorenson,Lee S. Katz,Steven Stroika,Kelly A. Jackson,Heather A. Carleton,Zuzana Kucerova,David Melka,Errol Strain,Mickey E. Parish,Rajal K. Mody +16 more
TL;DR: During July 19-31, the CDC Listeria website received >500,000 page views, more than seven times the views received during the previous 52 weeks, however, no molecular information from L. monocytogenes isolates was available to assess whether human illnesses might be linked to these products.

Notes from the Field : Outbreak of Listeriosis Associated with Consumption of Packaged Salad — United States and Canada, 2015–2016

TL;DR: A case was defined as isolation of Listeria with the outbreak PFGE pattern and highly related by wgMLST with an isolation date on or after July 5, 2015, the isolate date of the earliest case in this cluster.
