Enhancement of fibroblast proliferation, collagen biosynthesis and production of growth factors as a result of combining sodium hyaluronate and aminoacids.
Maria Addolorata Mariggiò,Amalia Cassano,A. Vinella,Alessandra Vincenti,Ruggiero Fumarulo,Lorenzo Lo Muzio,Eugenio Maiorano,Domenico Ribatti,Gianfranco Favia +8 more
TL;DR: The effects of Aminogam® gel, a new pharmacological preparation suggested to improve wound healing, composed of hyaluronic acid, proline, lysine, glycine and leucine, on human fibroblasts are examined to suggest that it may be a useful device to favour and accelerate wound closure.

Increase in interleukin-8 production from circulating neutrophils upon antibiotic therapy in cystic fibrosis patients.
Pasqualina Montemurro,Maria A. Mariggiò,Giovanna Barbuti,Amalia Cassano,Alessandra Vincenti,Gabriella Serio,Lorenzo Guerra,Anna Diana,Teresa Santostasi,Angela Polizzi,Ruggiero Fumarulo,Valeria Casavola,Antonio Manca,Massimo Conese +13 more
TL;DR: Circulating PMNs are primed in CF acute patients and further studies are needed to consider PMN-produced IL-8 as a biomarker to evaluate response to antibiotic therapy in CF patients.

Synthesis, in vitro activity and in vivo toxicity of the new 2,3-dinitrobutadiene derivative (1E,3E)-1,4-bis(2-naphthyl)-2,3-dinitro-1,3-butadiene
Maurizio Viale,Giovanni Petrillo,Cinzia Aiello,Carla Fenoglio,Cinzia Cordazzo,Maria A. Mariggiò,Amalia Cassano,Claudia Prevosto,Emanuela Ognio,Massimo Maccagno,Lara Bianchi,Rita Vaccarone,Egon Rizzato,Domenico Spinelli +13 more
TL;DR: The idea of modifying the geometry of the lead compound 1-Naph-DNB deserves further investigation aimed at synthesizing new molecules with similar chemical functionalities but with different spatial requirements, hopefully characterized by still enhanced activities in terms of inhibition of cell proliferation and apoptosis.

Survivin promoter -31G/C polymorphism in oral cancer cell lines
Salvatore De Maria,Lorenzo Lo Muzio,Alessandra Braca,Paolo Rega,Amalia Cassano,A. Vinella,Ruggiero Fumarulo,Rosario Serpico,E. Farina,Vittoria Metafora,Giuseppe Pannone,Gian Pietro Ravagnan,Salvatore Metafora,Corrado Rubini,Maria Cartenì,Maria Addolorata Mariggiò +15 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that the presence of a G or C allele is not directly correlated to survivin expression, at the mRNA or at the protein level, at least in the OSCC lines analyzed in this study.

A Histochemical Approach to the Evaluation of the In Vivo Cytotoxicity of the Nitrobutadienes (1E,3E)-1,4-bis(1-naphthyl)- 2,3-dinitro-1,3-butadiene and Methyl (2Z,4E)-2-Methylsulfanyl-5- (1-naphthyl)-4-nitro-2,4-pentadienoate in Mice Liver and Kidney
Carla Fenoglio,Amelia Grosso,Giovanni Petrillo,E. Boncompagni,C. Aiello,C. Cordazzo,Domenico Spinelli,E. Ognio,Maria Addolorata Mariggiò,Amalia Cassano,Maurizio Viale +10 more
TL;DR: Toxicological tests and histological analysis provided promising results, in particular for 1-Naph-NMCB that displayed lower toxic activity both in terms of lethal effect and tissue damage of the main organs, and studies of the antitumour activity in vivo confirmed the efficacy of both molecules.
