Divergent effects of oxytocin on "mind-reading" in healthy males.
Ana Macchia,Ana Macchia,Paul Theo Zebhauser,Stephanie Salcedo,Bethany Burum,Edward Gold,Miguel Alonso-Alonso,Alvaro Pascual-Leone,Daniel T. Gilbert,Anna-Katharine Brem +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors applied a randomized, double-blind, cross-over design, and included measures of serum oxytocin (OT) for reading the mind in the eyes test (RMET).
Epigenome-Wide Association Study in Peripheral Tissues Highlights DNA Methylation Profiles Associated with Episodic Memory Performance in Humans
Y. Sommerer,Valerija Dobricic,Marcel Schilling,Olena Ohlei,David Bartrés-Faz,Gabriele Cattaneo,Ilja Demuth,Sandra Düzel,Sören Franzenburg,Janina Fuss,Ulman Lindenberger,Alvaro Pascual-Leone,Sanaz Sedghpour Sabet,Cristina Solé-Padullés,José María Tormos,Valentin Max Vetter,Tanja Wesse,Andre Franke,Christina M. Lill,Lars Bertram +19 more
TL;DR: The authors conducted an epigenome-wide association study (EWAS) using DNA methylation (DNAm) profiles from buccal and blood samples for cross-sectional and longitudinal changes in episodic memory performance (n = 626; average follow-up time 5.4 years).
Cognitive Reserve as a Protective Factor of Mental Health in Middle-Aged Adults Affected by Chronic Pain.
Selma Delgado-Gallén,M. Dolors Soler,Sergiu Albu,Catherine Pachón‐García,Vanessa Alviarez-Schulze,Javier Solana-Sánchez,David Bartrés-Faz,David Bartrés-Faz,Josep Maria Tormos,Alvaro Pascual-Leone,Alvaro Pascual-Leone,Gabriele Cattaneo +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of cognitive reserve in the relationship between mental health and chronic pain clinical characteristics in middle-aged adults was examined, and it was shown that cognitive reserve reflects the effectiveness of the internal connections of the brain and has been shown to be a protective factor in brain damage, slowing cognitive aging or reducing the risk of mental health disorders.
Assessment of potential selection bias in neuroimaging studies of postoperative delirium and cognitive decline: lessons from the SAGES study
Michele Cavallari,Tamara G. Fong,Alexandra Touroutoglou,Bradford C. Dickerson,Eva M. Schmitt,Thomas G. Travison,Edward R. Marcantonio,Long Ngo,Towia A. Libermann,Alvaro Pascual-Leone,Mouhsin M. Shafi,Sharon K. Inouye,Richard N. Jones +12 more
TL;DR: There was no evidence that the MRI sub-group experienced delirium that differed in severity relative to MRI non-participants, and attempts were made to mitigate the observed discrepancy using inverse probability weighting for MRI participation.
