Improvement in systematic error in background-oriented schlieren results by using dynamic backgrounds
TL;DR: In this paper, the quality of synthetic and background-oriented schlieren images can be improved by acquiring a set of images with different reference images and generating a median displacement field from it.
Phase space imaging in optical design
Denise Rausch,Alois Herkommer +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the transformation of etendue in phase space has been used to check the performance of a system and analyze the radiance and irradiance distribution on the target surface.

Toward areal chromatic confocal metrology
TL;DR: ChromaCAM as discussed by the authors proposes chromatic confocal areal metrology, in which the surface height for each point in a 2D grid of measurement spots, generated by a rectangular micro-lens array, is parallely analyzed through the utilization of a pinhole multiplexer unit, an analog optical analysis unit, and postprocessing algorithms.

Method and Apparatus for Optical Absorption Measurements
Klaus Koerner,Christof Pruss,Alois Herkommer,Wolfgang Osten,Daniel Claus +4 more
- 31 Aug 2015
TL;DR: In this article, a measuring probe and an arrangement for measuring spectral absorption, preferably in the infrared, is presented, where the measuring probe may comprise a cutting apparatus configured to cut a slice or respectively flap off of a sample to be measured; a measuring gap configured to accommodate the sample slice; an optical window element for coupling measuring light into, or respectively out of the measuring gap; and an end reflector designed and arranged to reflect the measuring light propagated through the measuring gaps back into the measure gap.

Complex 3D printed microoptical systems: from a pinhole camera to a spectrometer
Andrea Toulouse,Johannes Drozella,Simon Thiele,Harald Giessen,Alois Herkommer +4 more
- 20 May 2022
TL;DR: In this article , the feasibility of 3D-printed micro-pinhole camera to a spectrometer has been evaluated in the context of femtosecond direct laser writing (FDLW).
