Scattering theory of transport in coherent quantum Hall bilayers
Dmytro Pesin,Allan H. MacDonald +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, two phenomenological descriptions of low-current transport in bilayer quantum Hall systems with co-existence of coherent bilayers are discussed. Andreev scattering at contacts to coherentbilayers and a simplified singleparameter single-parameter model is proposed.

Phase transition and spin–wave dispersion in quantum Hall bilayers at filling factor ν=1
Anton Burkov,Anton Burkov,John Schliemann,John Schliemann,Allan H. MacDonald,Allan H. MacDonald,Steven Girvin +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, an effective Hamiltonian for a bilayer quantum Hall system at filling factor ν = 1 neglecting charge fluctuations is presented. But the model is formulated in terms of spin and pseudospin operators and is an exact representation of the system within the above approximation.

Angular Momentum Distribution Function of the Laughlin Droplet
Sami Mitra,Allan H. MacDonald +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the angular-momentum distribution functions for finite numbers of electrons in Laughlin states have been evaluated and an exact relationship, valid for any number of electrons, has been derived for the ratio of the occupation numbers of the two outermost orbitals of the Laughlin droplet and is used to test the accuracy of the Monte-Carlo calculations.

Experimental observation of the spin-Hall effect in a spin orbit coupled two-dimensional hole gas
Bernd Kaestner,Bernd Kaestner,Jörg Wunderlich,Tomas Jungwirth,Tomas Jungwirth,Jairo Sinova,Kentaro Nomura,Allan H. MacDonald +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spin accumulation near the edge of a weakly disordered two-dimensional hole gas (2DHG) in a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure where the magnitude of the transverse spin current approaches the intrinsic, disorder independent value was studied.

The tunneling density-of-states of interacting massless Dirac fermions
TL;DR: The tunneling density-of-states (DOS) of a disorder-free two-dimensional interacting electron system with a massless Dirac band Hamiltonian was calculated in this article.
