Background: The incidence of type 2 diabetes is increasing. For mother and baby health, pregnant women should be evaluated in terms of diabetes in routine follow-ups. Insomnia and anxiety experienced during pregnancy affect mother and baby health. Objective: This research was carried out to determine the relationship between sleep problems and anxiety levels of women with and without gestational diabetes. Methodology: The descriptive-type research was conducted between September 2018 and September 2019 in the Obstetrics and Pediatrics outpatient clinics of a Training and Research Hospital located in southeast Turkey. The research sample consists of 300 pregnant women -150 with gestational diabetes (GDM) and 150 without GDM-who agreed to participate in the study and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Introductory Information Form prepared by the researchers, the Women's Health Initiative Insomnia Rating Scale (WHIIRS), and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Shapiro-Wilk test, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis variance analysis, and Spearman correlation analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: In the study, it was found that 60% of women with GDM were 30 years old and older and 34% were illiterate, while 61.3% of women without GDM were 30 years old and older and 34.7% were illiterate. There was a highly significant positive correlation between the WHIIRS and State Anxiety Inventory scores (p<0.001) and a moderate positive correlation was found between WHIIRS and the Trait Anxiety Inventory scores (p <0.001) of women with GDM. There was moderately significant positive correlation was found between WHIIRS and STAI scores of women without GDM (p<0.001). Conclusions: In this research, it was found that there was a significant relationship between WHIIRS scores and anxiety levels of women with and without GDM, and sleep problems increased with anxiety levels.

Determining the Relationship Between Sleep Problems and Anxiety Levels of Women with and without Gestational Diabetes

Purpose: Although the importance of physical activity in every period of life is known, it may decrease depending on the changes during pregnancy. This study aims to understand how physical activity levels, quality of life, and fear of childbirth are affected during pregnancy and to emphasize the importance of physical activity levels during pregnancy. 
Methods: Our study's population was planned as a cross-sectional study of pregnant women who applied to the Physiofit wellness center. The sample consists of 84 volunteer pregnant women participating in the study. Physical activity levels; with the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ), quality of life; with the Short Form-36 (SF-36), fear of birth level; with Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire A (WDEQ-A) were evaluated.

Investigation of the Effect of Physical Activity Level on Fear of Birth and Quality of Life During Pregnancy

It is known that physical activity (PA) in pregnancy is beneficial for both women and fetal health. For the optimal exercise prescription, healthcare professionals who are interested in obstetrics-gynecology should evaluate women carefully before making any exercise recommendations during pregnancy. If there aren't any contraindications, pregnant women should be encouraged to regular physical activity. This narrative review aimed to determine PA during pregnancy in Turkey. It was performed a literature search in the databases. A total of 29 original articles on PA during pregnancy in Turkey were included in this present study. Of these, 18 studies were considered for analysis. Two studies assessed PA levels in pregnancy objective/direct methods such as PA monitors and pedometers, and non-objective/indirect methods were used in all 18 studies. Regarding exercise types, the most preferred exercises during pregnancy were walking, breathing exercises, strengthening exercises, and stretching neck muscles. This narrative review revealed that the level of PA participation and the frequency of regular exercise during pregnancy in Turkey is low. More studies are needed to examine PA participation from various contexts during pregnancy in Turkey to guide interventions for improving maternal health.
