A collaborative robot, or cobot, enables users to work closely with it through direct communication without the use of traditional barricades. Cobots eliminate the gap that has historically existed between industrial robots and humans while they work within fences. Cobots can be used for a variety of tasks, from communication robots in public areas and logistic or supply chain robots that move materials inside a building, to articulated or industrial robots that assist in automating tasks which are not ergonomically sound, such as assisting individuals in carrying large parts, or assembly lines. Human faith in collaboration has increased through human–robot collaboration applications built with dependability and safety in mind, which also enhances employee performance and working circumstances. Artificial intelligence and cobots are becoming more accessible due to advanced technology and new processor generations. Cobots are now being changed from science fiction to science through machine learning. They can quickly respond to change, decrease expenses, and enhance user experience. In order to identify the existing and potential expanding role of artificial intelligence in cobots for industrial applications, this paper provides a systematic literature review of the latest research publications between 2018 and 2022. It concludes by discussing various difficulties in current industrial collaborative robots and provides direction for future research.

The Expanding Role of Artificial Intelligence in Collaborative Robots for Industrial Applications: A Systematic Review of Recent Works

Since its beginning, around the 50s decade, until present days, the area of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) has considerably grown through time; those have been used for many tasks and applications, from bomb searching and recovery to sea exploration. Initially, these robots were used mainly for military and scientific purposes. However, nowadays, they are very much extended into civils, and it is not hard to find them being used for recreation. In this context, the present research is an effort to make a walkthrough of evolution in this area, showing a diversity of structure designs, used materials, sensor and instrumentation technologies, kinds and the number of actuators employed, navigation control techniques, and what is new in development trends. The paper gives a clear starting point for those who are initializing into this research area; also, it brings some helpful knowledge for those who already have experience.

Molecular insights into the methane adsorption capacity of coal under microwave irradiation based on solid-state 13C-NMR and XPS

Quad-rotor is very suitable for payload transportation due to the merits of high maneuverability and free hovering. However, the unknown varying payloads can cause negative influences that act in forms of persistent disturbances and sudden changes, damaging flight performance especially the attitude stability seriously. Targeting the persistent disturbances, an entirely novel disturbance estimator (DE) which can estimate non-smooth disturbances in a highly accurate manner for feedback compensation is proposed in this paper. To deal with the sudden changes from prescribed references and the payloads that may induce too large overshoots and input surging, a type of predictive optimal controller, which considers tracking errors and their changing rates of a class of linear multiple-input-multiple-output systems, is developed. Simulation results show that the system enhanced by the DE has better control performance than the ones enhanced by the commonly used extended state observer or nonlinear disturbance observer. Compared with the typical control approaches, the proposed control scheme enables the quad-rotor attitude system more stable performance and more ideal inputs on both persistent disturbance and sudden change resisting during payload transportation.

Applied magnetism has a wide range of applications in technology and industry. A significant magnetic force can be applied between two parts without any contact using coils and creating a magnetic field in the environment. It is also possible to strengthen the created magnetic force by placing different cores in the coil. The purpose of this research was to calculate the force between the coil and the coaxial magnet. In this system, a core with high permeability was considered for the coil. On the other hand, the distance between the coil and the magnet is such that when the coil is off, the effect between the coil and the magnet can be considered zero. The magnetic field produced by the magnet was also determined. Lorentz’s force and potential theory was used to calculate the magnetic field and force. Note that the magnetic force between the coil and the magnet was only in the direction of the coil axis.

Therefore, the purpose of the present work is to design a controller to address this issue. Based on the Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) method, the proposed design uses inner and outer rings to efficiently maintain the balance and roll, pitch, and yaw angles as well as the altitude of a quadrotor flying robot after the loss of a rotor.

Feedback linearization approach to fault tolerance for a micro quadrotor

In coal mining operations, coalbed methane is one of the potential hazards that must be extracted to prevent an explosion of the accumulated gas and environmental pollution. One of the mechanisms is using microwave irradiation so that the thermal stress caused by microwave heating generates fractures. In this research, we investigated the most important parameters affecting the electric and thermal fields’ distribution in coal in order to identify the effective parameters that achieve the highest temperature increase rate and to reach the highest impact and efficiency of the system with the least amount of consumed energy. In this paper, using Maxwell equations, heat transfer, mass transfer and coupling them by COMSOL, we have simulated the radiation of electromagnetic field and heat in the cavity and coal, and we have also shown the temperature dispersion inside the coal. The parameters studied included the amount of coal moisture (type of coal), operating frequency, input power and heating time, location of the waveguide, the size of the waveguide and the location of the coal, and finally the parameters were re-examined in a secondary standard cavity to separate the parameters related to the size of the environment and the cavity from the independent parameters. The results of this study show that the most effective parameter on the electric and thermal fields’ distribution within coal is the size of the resonance chamber. Additionally, the results show that the moisture of 5%, the highest input power and cutoff frequency close to the operating frequency cause the highest average temperature inside the coal, but many parameters such as operating frequency, waveguide location and coal location should be selected depending on the chamber size.

In this paper, the authors present kinematic and dynamic modeling of an underwater robot with two rotating thrusters. Through a virtual environment implemented in MATLAB and LabVIEW, the performance of the proposed robot under real operating conditions was demonstrated.
