The distributed power system comprises a plurality of point-of-load (POL) regulators each comprising at least one power switch adapted to convey power to a load and a digital controller adapted to control operation of the power switch responsive to a feedback measurement. The digital controller further comprises a digital filter having a transfer function defined by plural filter coefficients. A serial data bus operatively connects each of the plurality of POL regulators. A system controller is connected to the serial data bus and is adapted to communicate digital data to the plurality of POL regulators via the serial data bus. The digital data includes programming data for programming the plural filter coefficients. The system controller further comprises a user interface adapted to receive the programming data therefrom.

The tags (50, 52) include a transmitter for periodically transmitting a unique identifier for each person (51) and asset (55). The monitoring system includes a router (14) connected to the communication network, at least one intermediate location processor (16) that transmits location messages to the router (14), and at least one receiver node (18) connected to each intermediate location processor (16), such that when the receiver node receives a transmission from the tag (50, 52), the receiver node (18) creates and sends a location message to the intermediate location processor (16), the intermediate location processor (16) transmits the location message to the router (14), and the router (14) transmits the location message to the central server (10) over the network.

The code is transmitted by pulse bursts at diverse times during predetermined time intervals to prevent synchronization with resident signals in the facility. Receivers in the walls or ceilings of the facility respond to the infrared radiation of the pulse bursts and validate the identification code by a checksum of the code through a comparison with a checksum transmitted with the code. The receivers deliver validated codes to arbitrators and receive back signals indicative of the level of an individual assigned to a class wearing the transmitters. Signals from the receivers are received by arbitrators which forward the codes to a CPU for recording start and stop events indicative of movement by transmitters into and out of the reception range of the various receivers.
