Variability in platelet responsiveness to clopidogrel among 544 individuals.
Victor L. Serebruany,Steven R. Steinhubl,Peter B. Berger,Alex I. Malinin,Deepak L. Bhatt,Eric J. Topol +5 more
TL;DR: Clinical trials are needed to define whether hyporesponders to clopidogrel are at increased risk for thrombotic events and whether hyper-responders are at increase risk for bleeding.

Platelet/Endothelial Biomarkers in Depressed Patients Treated With the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Sertraline After Acute Coronary Events The Sertraline AntiDepressant Heart Attack Randomized Trial (SADHART) Platelet Substudy
Victor L. Serebruany,Alexander H. Glassman,Alex I. Malinin,Charles B. Nemeroff,Dominique L. Musselman,Louis T. van Zyl,Mitchell S. Finkel,K. Ranga Rama Krishnan,Michael Gaffney,Wilma Harrison,Robert M. Califf,Christopher M. O'Connor +11 more
TL;DR: Treatment with sertraline in depressed post-ACS patients is associated with reductions in platelet/endothelial activation despite coadministration of widespread antiplatelet regimens including aspirin and clopidogrel.

Risk of bleeding complications with antiplatelet agents: Meta-analysis of 338,191 patients enrolled in 50 randomized controlled trials
TL;DR: Surprisingly, doses of ASA ≥ 100 mg caused a relatively high hemorrhagic event rate, which was comparable to that of ADP‐receptor blockers, which should be considered when using combination antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant therapy with conventional doses of ASA.

Validation of a VerifyNow-P2Y12 cartridge for monitoring platelet inhibition with clopidogrel.
TL;DR: VerifyNow-P2Y12 is a reliable, simple, and sensitive device suitable for monitoring of P2Y 12 platelet receptor inhibitors in the clinical arena.

Frequency of aspirin resistance in patients with congestive heart failure treated with antecedent aspirin
David C. Sane,Scott A McKee,Scott A McKee,Alex I. Malinin,Alex I. Malinin,Victor L. Serebruany +5 more
TL;DR: The study population consisted of 88 outpatients with documented evidence of CHF who had been treated with aspirin 325 mg/day for 1 month and no patient received thienopyridines, glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors, or anticoagulant drugs.
