Different ploidy levels of megakaryocytes generated from peripheral or cord blood CD34+ cells are correlated with different levels of platelet release.
Gianfranco Mattia,Francesca Vulcano,Luisa Milazzo,Alessandra Barca,Giampiero Macioce,Adele Giampaolo,H. Jane Hassan +6 more
TL;DR: The data indicate the inability of the CB-MKs to progress in the endomitotic process and a direct correlation between DNA content and platelet production.

Structural Analysis of Saposin C and B COMPLETE LOCALIZATION OF DISULFIDE BRIDGES
Anna Maria Vaccaro,Rosa Salvioli,Alessandra Barca,Massimo Tatti,Fiorella Ciaffoni,Bruno Maras,Rosa Anna Siciliano,Francesca Zappacosta,Angela Amoresano,Piero Pucci +9 more
TL;DR: It was found that the effects of saposin C on phosphatidylserine liposomes and on glucosylceramidase activity are markedly reduced when the three disulfide bonds are irreversibly disrupted.

Effect of Saposins A and C on the Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Liposomal Glucosylceramide
Anna Maria Vaccaro,Massimo Tatti,Fiorella Ciaffoni,Rosa Salvioli,Alessandra Barca,Chiara Scerch +5 more
TL;DR: Results show that both Sap A and Sap C are required for maximal hydrolysis of glucosylceramide inserted in PS-containing LUV, that their effects are synergistic, and that their mode of action is different.

Manuel Zorzi,Alessandra Barca,Fabio Falcini,Grazia Grazzini,R. Pizzuti,Alessandra Ravaioli,Priscilla Sassoli de Bianchi,Carlo Senore,Angelo Sigillito,M Vettorazzi,Carmen Beatriz Visioli +10 more
TL;DR: The organised programmes for colorectal cancer screening in Italy increased considerably during 2005, covering about one third of the eligible population at a national level, although many programmes were activated in the second part of the year, thus their results have to be evaluated with caution.

p16/ki67 and E6/E7 mRNA Accuracy and Prognostic Value in Triaging HPV DNA-Positive Women
Paolo Giorgi Rossi,Francesca Carozzi,Guglielmo Ronco,Elena Allia,Simonetta Bisanzi,Anna Gillio-Tos,Laura De Marco,Raffaella Rizzolo,Daniela Gustinucci,Annarosa Del Mistro,Helena Frayle,Massimo Confortini,Anna Iossa,Elena Cesarini,Simonetta Bulletti,Basilio Passamonti,Silvia Gori,Laura Toniolo,Alessandra Barca,Laura Bonvicini,Pamela Mancuso,Francesco Venturelli,Maria Benevolo +22 more
TL;DR: E6/E7 mRNA showed the highest sensitivity, at the price of too high a positivity rate to be efficient for triage, however, when negative, it showed a good prognostic value for clearance and CIN2+ regression.
