A MILP model to design hybrid wind–photovoltaic isolated rural electrification projects in developing countries
TL;DR: A mathematical programming model is presented to optimize the design of hybrid wind-PV systems that solves the location of the wind–PV generators and theDesign of the microgrids, taking into account the demand of the consumption points and the energy potential.

Renewable energy projects to electrify rural communities in Cape Verde
Matteo Ranaboldo,Bruno Domenech Léga,David Vilar Ferrenbach,Laia Ferrer-Martí,Rafael Pastor Moreno,Alberto García-Villoria +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the design of two off-grid electrification projects based on hybrid wind-photovoltaic systems in Cape Verde is developed and analyzed, considering some significant novelty features in comparison with previous studies.

Introducing dynamic diversity into a discrete particle swarm optimization
TL;DR: 10 discrete PSO algorithms for solving the response time variability problem (RTVP) are proposed: one based on the ideas described above (PSO-c"3dyn) and nine based on strategies proposed in the literature and adapted for solving a discrete optimization problem such as the RTVP.

Off-grid community electrification projects based on wind and solar energies: A case study in Nicaragua
Matteo Ranaboldo,B. Domenech,Gustavo Alberto Reyes,Laia Ferrer-Martí,Rafael Pastor Moreno,Alberto García-Villoria +5 more
TL;DR: The proposed design configuration combines solar home systems, solar basedmicrogrids and wind based microgrids in order to connect concentrated groups of users taking advantage of best wind resource areas.

A survey of the parallel assembly lines balancing problem
TL;DR: This paper surveys the parallel assembly lines balancing problem (PALBP) studies and a classification scheme is provided to ease understanding and the main gaps in the literature are described.
