Compound TCP with Random Losses
Alberto Blanc,Konstantin Avrachenkov,Denis Collange,Giovanni Neglia +3 more
- 11 May 2009
TL;DR: A Markovian model is derived for the CTCP sending window and it is observed that the previous approximation, using a "typical cycle," underestimates the average window and its variance while the MarkOVian model gives more accurate results.
Passive online RTT estimation for flow-aware routers using one-way traffic
Damiano Carra,Konstantin Avrachenkov,Sara Alouf,Alberto Blanc,Philippe Nain,Georg Post +5 more
- 11 May 2010
TL;DR: This work provides an online RTT estimation algorithm which is passive and needs one-way traffic only and tests on a controlled testbed and on the Internet demonstrate high accuracy of the proposed estimator.
Simulation study of new TCP variants
Jacopo Chicco,Denis Collange,Alberto Blanc +2 more
- 22 Jun 2010
TL;DR: Using simulations, the performance of new TCP variants currently used in the Internet and that gradually replacing TCP NewReno are analyzed to observe a trade-off between more aggressive variants that have good performances but a bad impact on the network state and the other flows.

- 01 Jan 2006
TL;DR: The ANR MARMOTE project brings together seven partner teams, expert in Markovian analysis, who will develop advanced solution algorithms and applications in different scientific domains: reliability, distributed systems, biology, physics and economics.

Improving TCP fairness with the MarkMax policy
Natalia Osipova,Alberto Blanc,Konstantin Avrachenkov +2 more
- 16 Jun 2008
TL;DR: This work introduces MarkMax a new flow-aware active queue management algorithm for additive increase multiplicative decreases protocols (like TCP) and derives some bounds that can be used to analyze the behavior of MarkMax and computes the per-flow backlog.
