Novel tumor-targeted RGD peptide-camptothecin conjugates: synthesis and biological evaluation.
Alma Dal Pozzo,Minghong Ni,Emiliano Esposito,Sabrina Dallavalle,Loana Musso,Alberto Bargiotti,Claudio Pisano,Loredana Vesci,Federica Bucci,Massimo Castorina,Rosanna Foderà,Giuseppe Giannini,Concetta Aulicino,Sergio Penco +13 more
TL;DR: Five RGD peptide-camptothecin (CPT) conjugates were designed and synthesized with the purpose to improve the therapeutic index of this antitumoral drug family and information was acquired for additional development of derivatives with different linkers and better solubility for in vivo evaluation.

Isoxazolo(aza)naphthoquinones: A new class of cytotoxic Hsp90 inhibitors
Alberto Bargiotti,Loana Musso,Sabrina Dallavalle,Lucio Merlini,Grazia Gallo,Andrea Ciacci,Giuseppe Giannini,Walter Cabri,Sergio Penco,Loredana Vesci,Massimo Castorina,Ferdinando Maria Milazzo,Maria Luisa Cervoni,Marcella Barbarino,Claudio Pisano,Chiara Giommarelli,Valentina Zuco,Michelandrea De Cesare,Franco Zunino +18 more
TL;DR: Preliminary results indicated in vivo activity of 7f against human epithelial carcinoma A431 model growing as tumour xenograft in nude mice, thus supporting the therapeutic potential of this novel series of Hsp90 inhibitors.

Synthesis, biological and biochemical properties of new anthracyclines modified in the aminosugar moiety
Alberto Bargiotti,Casazza Am,Guiseppe Cassinelli,A. Di Marco,S. Penco,Graziella Pratesi,Rosanna Supino,Adriano Zaccara,Franco Zunino,F. Arcamone +9 more
TL;DR: The cytotoxic effect of the new anthracyclines could be correlated with their ability to bind to DNA and with their toxicity in experimental animals; however, the antitumor effectiveness did not seem to be related to these parameters.

Anthracycline glycosides, process for the preparation thereof, intermediate compounds and their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions
Alberto Bargiotti,Giuseppe Cassinelli,Penco, Sergio, Milan, It,Federico Arcamone,Casazza Anna Maria +4 more
- 29 Oct 1981
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided anthracycline glycosides of the general formula I and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts, in which R, represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group; R 2 represents an acyl group, one of R 3 and R 4 represents an amino or an acylamino group, and the other of R 2 and R 3 represents an hydrogen atom.
