STM/AFM investigations of β-MoTe2, α-MoTe2 and WTe2
TL;DR: In this article, the dz2 orbitals of metal atoms protruding vertically upward may provide the tunneling current in the case of β-MoTe2 and WTe2 with changed metal-Te distances.

Basic and charge density wave modulated structures of NbS 3 -II
Erik Zupanič,H. J. P. van Midden,M. A. van Midden,Sašo Šturm,E. Tchernychova,V. Ya. Pokrovskii,S. G. Zybtsev,V. F. Nasretdinova,S. V. Zaitsev-Zotov,Wei Ting Chen,Woei Wu Pai,J. C. Bennett,Albert Prodan +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the basic and charge density wave (CDW) structures of the monoclinic NbS-II polymorph were studied by synchrotron x-ray diffraction, ab initio calculations, simulation of electron diffraction patterns, and by atomic-resolution transmission electron and low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopies.

A new monoclinic phase in the Fe2O3TiO2 system. I. Structure determination and Mössbauer spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, a monoclinic polytype of Fe 2 O 3 TiO 2 was found, which was isostructural with V 3 O 5.

Guiding of vortices in YBa2Cu3O7−δ single crystals with unidirected twins
Victor Chabanenko,Albert Prodan,Valerij A. Shklovskij,A. V. Bondarenko,M. A. Obolenskii,H. Szymczak,Stanislaw Piechota +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a single crystal with unidirected twins was studied by measuring transverse voltages in geometry where the current is flowing in the a-b plane and the external magnetic field H is oriented along the c-axis.

Determination of the symmetry of charge-density-wave modulations in TaTe4 by HREM
TL;DR: In this paper, the symmetry of the superlattice modulations of TaTe4 was investigated by high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM) images recorded in the [210] orientation confirm the absence of a simple mirror plane normal to the c-axis in the tetragonal structure.
