TL;DR: The causal relation between elevated levels of LDL-C and cardiovascular disease has been largely established by experimental and clinical studies and the need to develop additional lipid-lowering drugs to be used in combination with or in alternative to statins in patients intolerant to the treatment is raised.

Evinacumab: a new option in the treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
TL;DR: Treatment of HoFH using a monoclonal antibody targeting ANGPTL3 with evinacumab halves LDL-C levels in HoFH patients by an LDLR-independent mechanism is indicated, indicating a promising improvement in the management of these patients.
