Mitigating the Demotivating Effects of Frequent Unfavorable Feedback about Goal Progress

TL;DR: Frequent unfavorable feedback about goal progress can demotivate individuals, but a goal attainability reminder can mitigate this effect by bolstering expectancy of goal attainment, as demonstrated in two experiments supporting expectancy theory.
