There is disclosed a method for forming a color image by use of a plurality of color inks containing a cyan ink, wherein there is used an ink as the cyan ink which contains a metallophthalocyanine dye and/or a metal-free phthalocyanine dye and which contains free ions of divalent or higher metals at the concentration of 15 ppm or less, the methallophthalocyanine dye having a coordination metal selected from the metal atoms of the groups, IIA, IVB, VA, VIIA and VIII of the periodic Table of The Elements at the center of its skeleton, and the metal-free phthalocyanine dye having no coordination metal at the center of its skeleton, and also an ink to be used therefor.

Quinacridones having selectively adjusted triboelectric effects

This invention relates to an improved color developing composition, the composition being comprised of toner resin particles, with each of said particles containing therein up to four pigments, and a single carrier. Suitable pigments include magenta, cyan, yellow or white, and/or mixtures thereof. The pigments are present in an amount of from about 1 percent (part) to about 20 percent by weight. Such compositions are useful in obtaining color images utilizing a single pass xerographic imaging system.

Disclosed are aqueous ink compositions for ink jet printing which comprises water, a humectant, and a colorant selected from the group consisting of: (a) those of Formula I ##STR1## wherein R1 is an electron withdrawing group, R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, arylalkyl, and substituted arylalkyl, R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, arylalkyl, and substituted arylalkyl, and Ar is selected from the group consisting of aryl, substituted aryl, arylalkyl, and substituted arylalkyl; (b) those of Formula II ##STR2## wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, arylalkyl, and substituted arylalkyl, R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, arylalkyl, and substituted arylalkyl, and Ar is selected from the group consisting of aryl, substituted aryl, arylalkyl, and substituted arylalkyl; (c) dimeric compounds containing two moieties of Formula I; (d) dimeric compounds containing two moieties of Formula II; (e) dimeric compounds containing one moiety of Formula I and one moiety of Formula II; (f) trimeric compounds containing three moieties of Formula I; (g) trimeric compounds containing three moieties of Formula II; (h) trimeric compounds containing two moieties of Formula I and one moiety of Formula II; (i) trimeric compounds containing one moiety of Formula I and two moieties of Formula II; (i) polymeric compounds containing at least four moieties selected from the group consisting of Formula I, Formula II, and mixtures thereof; and (k) mixtures thereof. Also disclosed are printing processes employing the inks.
