Supplementary motor area driving changes of structural brain network in blepharospasm.
Jinping Xu,Yuhan Luo,Kangqiang Peng,Yaomin Guo,Linchang Zhong,Ying Liu,Ai Weng,Zilin Ou,Zhicong Yan,Ying Wang,Jinsheng Zeng,Weixi Zhang,Qingmao Hu,Gang Liu +13 more
TL;DR: Increased gray matter volume extends from the right supplementary motor area to the cortico-basal ganglia-brainstem motor pathway and cortical regions in the vision-motor integration pathway, showing a hierarchy of structural abnormalities in the disease progression of blepharospasm, which provides novel evidence to support the notion that blephrospasm may arise from network disorders and is associated with a wide range of gray matter abnormalities.

Cortico-basal ganglia networks dysfunction associated with disease severity in patients with idiopathic blepharospasm
Han Xiao,Yuhan Luo,Linchang Zhong,Yaomin Guo,Xinxin Fan,Xiao-dong Zhang,Ying Liu,Ai Weng,Zilin Ou,Weixi Zhang,Huawang Wu,Qingmao Hu,Kangqiang Peng,Jinping Xu,Gang Logan Liu +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the global integrative state and organization of functional connections of cortico-basal ganglia networks in patients with idiopathic blepharospasm were investigated.
Neural Correlates of Facial Emotion Recognition Impairment in Blepharospasm: A Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study
Jinping Xu,Yuhan Luo,Ying Liu,Linchang Zhong,Huiming Liu,Xiaodong Zhang,Qinxiu Cheng,Zhengkun Yang,Yue Zhang,Ai Weng,Zilin Ou,Zhicong Yan,Weixi Zhang,Qingmao Hu,Kangqiang Peng,Gang Liu +15 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that dysfunctions of the disgust processing network exist in blepharospasm, and a deficit in disgust emotion recognition may be attributed to disturbances in the early perception of visual disgust stimuli in ble PHs patients.

Progressive thalamic nuclear atrophy in blepharospasm and blepharospasm-oromandibular dystonia
Jinping Xu,Yuhan Luo,Jiana Zhang,Linchang Zhong,Huiming Liu,Ai Weng,Zhengkun Yang,Zilin Ou,Zhicong Yan,Qinxiu Cheng,Xinxin Fan,Xiaodong Zhang,Weixi Zhang,Qingmao Hu,Dong Liang,Kangqiang Peng,Gang Liu +16 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that the pulvinar inferior nucleus in the thalamus is the focal origin of blepharospasm, extending to pulvinar inferior nuclear atrophy and subsequently extending to the ventral lateral anterior nucleus causing involuntary lower facial and masticatory movements known as blepharospasm-oromandibular dystonia.
Regional structural abnormalities in thalamus in idiopathic cervical dystonia
Yuhan Luo,Huiming Liu,Ai Weng,Zhengkun Yang,Jiana Zhang,Xiuye He,Zilin Ou,Zhicong Yan,Qinxiu Cheng,Xinxin Fan,Xiaodong Zhang,Weixi Zhang,Qingmao Hu,Kangqiang Peng,Gang Liu,Jinping Xu +15 more
TL;DR: This study examines thalamic structural abnormalities in idiopathic cervical dystonia using MRI, finding significant volume reductions in 9 thalamic nuclei in patients compared to healthy controls, with no correlations with clinical characteristics.
