Estrogen Receptor Antagonist Fulvestrant (ICI 182,780) Inhibits the Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Glucocorticoids
Emanuela Esposito,Stefano Bruscoli,Emanuela Mazzon,Elisabetta Vegeto,Adriana Maggi,Salvatore Cuzzocrea +5 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that the in vivo anti-inflammatory property of DEX is also related to the ER-α, and quantitative PCR shows that DEX down-regulates GR and up-regulate glucocorticoid-induced leucine zipper levels, whereas ICI 182,780 does not counteract these effects.

Target-specific action of organochlorine compounds in reproductive and nonreproductive tissues of estrogen-reporter male mice.
R. Villa,E. Bonetti,M. Penza,C. Iacobello,G. Bugari,Marco Bailo,Ornella Parolini,Pietro Apostoli,Luigi Caimi,Paolo Ciana,Adriana Maggi,D. Di Lorenzo +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that these organochlorines modulate differently the expression of estrogen-regulated genes in male mice and is dependent on the energetic balance.

Sexual Dimorphism and Estrogen Action in Mouse Liver.
TL;DR: The sex-related differential expression of the hepatic ERα raises the questions as to whether this receptor is responsible for the sexual differences observed in the physiopathology of the liver.

Novel locally active estrogens accelerate cutaneous wound healing. A preliminary study.
Mario Brufani,Francesca Ceccacci,Luigi Filocamo,Barbara Garofalo,Roberta Joudioux,Angela La Bella,Francesca Leonelli,Luisa Maria Migneco,Rinaldo Marini Bettolo,Paolo Maria Farina,Gillian S. Ashcroft,Claire E. Routley,Matthew J. Hardman,Clara Meda,Gianpaolo Rando,Adriana Maggi +15 more
TL;DR: Compound 2's ability to accelerate wound healing in ovariectomized mice and decrease the production of inflammatory molecules was comparable to that of E2, but the activity of compound 2 was not superimposable to E2 with regard to the cells involved in the wound repairing process.

European silver paper on the future of health promotion and preventive actions, basic research and clinical aspects of age-related disease.
Alfonso J. Cruz-Jentoft,Alain Franco,Pascal Sommer,Jean-Pierre Baeyens,Ewa A. Jankowska,Adriana Maggi,Piotr Ponikowski,Andrzej Ryś,Katarzyna Szczerbińska +8 more
TL;DR: The statement is presented as an overview, in tabular format, of the current European situation regarding basic biological research on ageing, health promotion and preventive action, clinical care for older people, and recommendations for future actions.
