Comparison of phosphorus retention efficiency between rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fed a commercial diet and a low fish meal based diet
Shuichi Satoh,Adrián J. Hernández,Takatoshi Tokoro,Yosuke Morishita,Viswanath Kiron,Takeshi Watanabe +5 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that practical low-P loading diets can be developed for rainbow trout through combinations of alternative protein sources, and an optimal combination of diverseLow-P protein sources could enhance the feed performance to a level comparable to conventional fish meal (FM) based diets.

Inclusion of macroalgae meal (Macrocystis pyrifera) as feed ingredient for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): effect on flesh fatty acid composition.
TL;DR: Using macroalgae meal in rainbow trout diets do not enhance the quantity of protein and lipid contents at muscle level but an addition of 3–6% might contribute to increase the level of PUFAs, specially EPA, DHA and LIN.
Feeding high inclusion of whole grain white lupin (Lupinus albus) to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): Effects on growth, nutrient digestibility, liver and intestine histology and muscle fatty acid composition
Aliro Bórquez,Edison Serrano,Edison Serrano,Patricio Dantagnan,Jaime Carrasco,Adrián J. Hernández +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that whole grain lupin can be included up to 50% in commercial rainbow trout diets without negative effects.
Effect of different inorganic phosphorus sources on growth performance, digestibility, retention efficiency and discharge of nutrients in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Gabriel Alejandro Morales,Gabriel Alejandro Morales,Rosendo L. Azcuy,Matías E. Casaretto,Lorenzo Márquez,Adrián J. Hernández,Federico Gómez,Wolfgang Koppe,Alessandro Mereu +8 more
TL;DR: Both MSP and MAP resulted in higher levels of P apparent digestibility compared to MCP, increasing the dry matter digestibility of the nutrient in the feed, and fish fed with MCP showed higher solid/particulate P discharge to the water through faeces due to the lower digestionibility of this P–source within the gut of the fish.

The effects of supplemented diets with a phytopharmaceutical preparation from herbal and macroalgal origin on disease resistance in rainbow trout against Piscirickettsia salmonis
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that dietary supplementation with a phytopharmaceutical preparation, rich in fucoidans and labdane diterpenes strengthen immunity of O. mykiss against P. salmonis under the experimental conditions applied.
