TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted a multimethod descriptive study to understand barriers to recruitment into clinical trials in the US and found that only 41% of the participants reported that they had or were successfully meeting recruitment goals and only 24% of closed studies actually met their targeted recruitment goals.
