Acarbose protects from central and peripheral metabolic imbalance induced by benzene exposure
Lucas Kniess Debarba,Adam Mulka,Juliana Bezerra Medeiros de Lima,Olesya Didyuk,Patrick Fakhoury,Lisa Koshko,Abear Ali Awada,Kezhong Zhang,Ulrike Klueh,Marianna Sadagurski +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that chronic exposure to benzene at low levels induces a severe metabolic imbalance in a sex-specific manner, and is associated with hypothalamic inflammation and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, suggesting that choosing a diet with a low glycemic index might be a potential strategy for reducing the negative metabolic effect of chronic exposed benzene.

Sexual dimorphism in hypothalamic inflammation in the offspring of dams exposed to a diet rich in high fat and branched-chain amino acids.
Marianna Sadagurski,Lucas Kniess Debarba,Joao Pedro Werneck-de-Castro,Abear Ali Awada,Tess A. Baker,Ernesto Bernal-Mizrachi,Ernesto Bernal-Mizrachi +6 more
TL;DR: The sex differences in hypothalamic ER-α expression levels were lost in female offspring upon HFD challenge, supporting a link between ER- α levels and hypothalamic inflammation in offspring and highlighting the programming potential of hypothalamic inflammatory responses and maternal nutrition.

1763-P: Acarbose Protects from Central and Peripheral Metabolic Imbalance Induced by Exposure to Benzene
Lucas Kniess Debarba,Adam Mulka,Patrick Fakhoury,Olesya Didyuk,Abear Ali Awada,Juliana Bezerra Medeiros de Lima,Lisa Koshko,Ulrike Klueh,Marianna Sadagurski +8 more
TL;DR: Mechanistically, acute benzene exposure activated hypothalamic ER stress and neuroinflammatory responses, while pharmacological inhibition of IRE1α-XBP1 pathway alleviated glial inflammatory cytokines production suggesting that this may be the primary mechanism by which benzene causes changes in metabolic status.

TL;DR: In this article , a double H maze task was used to assess egocentric spatial memory in HD R6/1 mice and found that the egOCentric memory was altered since early symptomatic stage in normal striatum, which correlated with dramatic reduction of striatal epigenetic and transcriptional changes induced by memory process.
