A wide field angle camera module that incorporates field curvature correction suitable for an electronic device is described herein. By way of example, the wide field angle camera module comprises micro optical lenses adapted to capture field angles of greater than thirty degrees, and is further adapted to provide field curvature correction for a range of object distances, and for a range of zoom configurations include 1×, 2× and 3× zoom configurations. Furthermore, the field correction can be implemented alone or in conjunction with signal processing that corrects barrel distortion introduced by the micro optical lenses. In particular aspects, the field correction can be automated based on image quality analysis to provide a high quality image for object distances substantially 30 centimeters or larger.

PURPOSE:To realize a high zoom ratio and a compact front lens by allowing the 3rd lens group of three-group constitution to include a lens group of a positive, a negative, and a positive lens successively from an object side behind a lens group of a positive, a negative, and a positive lens, and satisfying specific condition inequalities. CONSTITUTION:In titled zoom lens which consists of the 1st negative lens group, the 2nd positive lens group, and the 3rd positive lens group successively from the object side and covers a range from a wide-angle side to a telephoto side, the 1st, the 2nd, and the 3rd lens groups are moved mechanically to vary the focal length, and the position of a picture plane is fixed; the 3rd lens group consists of the lens group 3a of the positive, negative, and positive lenses and the lens group 3b of the positive, negative, and positive lenses successively from the object side and satisfies the conditions shown by inequalities ( I )-(VI).

The relay lens system comprises: a light input; a light output; one or more lenses configured to relay light from the light input to the light output; and, an aperture stop configured to provide a given numerical aperture to the light being relayed through the one or more lenses, the combination of the given numerical aperture and the one or more lenses are configured to: introduce a spherical aberration in the light between the light input and the light output; and, suppress one or more of the following in a ray fan plot of the spherical aberration: local maxima and local minima; and, points where a derivative of the ray fan plot is zero.

An objective lens of large relative aperture comprising, from front to rear, a first lens component of positive power, a second lens component of positive power and a third lens component of negative power, the first and third lens components being moved forward as a unit, while the second lens component is simultaneously moved forward by a smaller amount than that of the movement of them to effect focusing from infinity to shorter object distances. The focal lengths of the first, second and third lens components, the calculations of the constituent lenses, and the glass materials of which the lenses are made up are properly chosen so as to achieve a high grade imaging performance throughout a focusing range from infinity to very short object distances.
