Good Countries or Good Projects? Macro and Micro Correlates of World Bank Project Performance
TL;DR: This paper used data from more than 6,000 World Bank projects evaluated between 1983 and 2009 to investigate macro and micro correlates of project outcomes, finding that country-level"macro"measures of the quality of policies and institutions are very strongly correlated with project outcomes.

When is Growth Pro-Poor? Cross-Country Evidence
TL;DR: In this article, the authors empirically decompose changes in poverty in a large sample of developing countries during the 1980s and 1990s into three components: a high rate of growth of average incomes, a high sensitivity of poverty to growth in average incomes; and a poverty-reducing pattern of growth in relative incomes.
