Product Quality, Productive Efficiency, and International Technology Diffusion: Evidence from Plant-Level Panel Data
TL;DR: In this article, a new methodology was developed to measure product quality and marginal costs at the plant level and to relate the evolution of these variables to firms' activity histories, finding that firms' past exposure to foreign knowledge through exports, imported inputs, and foreign direct investment does not help to predict current product quality or productive efficiency.
