Comparative advantage and the cross‐section of business cycles

TL;DR: In this article, the authors develop two alternative explanations based on the idea that comparative advantage causes rich countries to specialize in industries that use new technologies operated by skilled workers whereas poor countries specialize in traditional technologies that operate by unskilled workers, and show that either asymmetry in industry characteristics can generate cross-country differences in business cycles that resemble those observed in the data.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of prior uncertainty about the validity of the exclusion restriction on inferences based on linear instrumental variables (IV) models are analyzed using a Bayesian approach, showing that moderate prior uncertainty can lead to a substantial loss of precision in estimates of structural parameters.
