This study investigated the effect of applying a customized diabetes education program through pattern management (PM), using continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS) results, on individual self-care behaviors and self-efficacy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Patients with type 2 diabetes who had never received diabetes education, enrolled from March to September 2017, were sequentially assigned to either PM education or control groups. In the PM education group, the CGMS test was first conducted one week before diabetes education and repeated three times by PM in order to obtain data on self-care behaviors and self-efficacy. These results were then compared before and after education at three and six months. The control group received the traditional diabetes education. Self-efficacy showed statistically significant interactions between the two groups over time, indicating a significant difference in the degree of self-efficacy between the PM education and control groups. Diabetes education by PM using CGMS result analysis improved life habits with a positive influence on self-care behaviors and self-efficacy for diabetes management. Further studies are needed to further develop and apply individual diabetes education programs in order to sustain the effects of self-care behaviors and self-efficacy in patients with diabetes who experience a decrease in self-efficacy after three months of education.

Effect of Diabetes Education Through Pattern Management on Self-Care and Self-Efficacy in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between self-care agency and health self-efficacy measures, in patients with viral hepatitis. Methods Data were collected from 116 outpatients over the age of 19 years who were diagnosed with viral hepatitis between February 20, 2019 and April 30, 2019. This study used the Appraisal of Self-care Agency Scale-Revised and the Health Self-Efficacy measures. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and canonical correlations were used during data analysis [SPSS version 25.0 for Windows (SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA)]. Results The first canonical correlation coefficient was 0.65 (Wilks' λ = 0.44, F = 5.63, p < 0.001) and the second was 0.42 (Wilks' λ = 0.76, F = 3.08, p = .001). The first variate indicated a higher perception of having power for self-care (0.85) and developing power for self-care (0.92), and this was related to exercise (0.66), illness (0.76), emotion (0.75), nutrition (0.81), stress (0.60), and health practice (0.85). The second variate indicated a higher perception of having power for self-care (0.42), whilst lacking power for self-care (-0.82), was related to illness (0.35) and stress (0.72). Conclusion Nursing interventions and education aimed at enhancing the self-care of viral hepatitis patients are needed to assist patients to improve their health care behaviors.

Canonical Correlation Between Self-Care Agency and Health-Related Self-Efficacy with Chronic Viral Hepatitis Patients.

Penyakit hipertensi merupakan penyakit tidak menular peringkat pertama terbanyak di Provinsi Gorontalo selama empat tahun berturut-turut dengan 29.391 kasus pada tahun 2020. 60% penderita hipertensi mengalami komplikasi stroke, penyakit ginjal, dan kebutaan. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya kemampuan pasien hipertensi dalam melakukan manajemen perawatan diri atau self care management. Self care management sangat dipengaruhi oleh motivasi dan keyakinan diri pasien hipertensi yang dikenal dengan istilah efikasi diri. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan efikasi diri pasien hipertensi melalui edukasi terstruktur di masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kabila pada bulan Juli sampai September dengan metode edukasi terstruktur terhadap 20 orang pasien hipertensi terkait self care management yang meliputi strategi diet, aktifitas fisik , manajemen stress dan kepatuhan pengobatan. Sebelum dan setelah kegiatan, dilakukan pengukuran efikasi diri dan motivasi mencegah komplikasi pada pasien hipertensi. Setelah kegiatan, didapatkan peningkatan efikasi diri pasien hipertensi dengan rata-rata skor 19 menjadi 28, selain itu juga didapatkan peningkatan skor pada motivasi mencegah komplikasi dari skor 32 menjadi 65. Edukasi self care management dapat menjadi alternatif strategi dalam meningkatkan keyakinan diri atau efikasi diri dan motivasi pasien hipertensi dalam melakukan perawatan diri dan pengobatan sehingga kualitas hidup pasien hipertensi dapat meningkat.Hypertension is the first-ranked non-communicable disease in Gorontalo Province for four consecutive years, with 29,391 cases in 2020. Complications such as stroke, kidney disease, and blindness affect 60% of hypertension patients. This is due to hypertensive patients' inability to manage their own health care. Self-care management is strongly influenced by the motivation and self-confidence of hypertensive patients, known as self-efficacy. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the self-efficacy of hypertensive patients through structured education in the community. This community service activity was carried out in the working area of the Kabila Health Center from July to September with a structured educational method for 20 hypertension patients regarding self-care management, which included diet strategies, physical activity, stress management, and medication adherence. Before and after the activity, self-efficacy and motivation to prevent complications in hypertension patients were measured. After the activity, there was an increase in the self-efficacy of hypertensive patients with an average score of 19 to 28, and besides that, there was also an increase in the score on motivation to prevent complications from a score of 32 to 65. Self-care management education can be an alternative strategy for increasing hypertensive patients' self-confidence, self-efficacy, and motivation to carry out self-care and treatment, thereby improving their quality of life.

Edukasi Self Care Management dalam Meningkatkan Efikasi Diri dan Motivasi Mencegah Komplikasi pada Pasien Hipertensi di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kabila

Purpose: This systematic review aims to provide an overview of research related to grit among nursing college students in South Korea.Methods: A literature search was done using RISS, KISS, and KCI to identify studies written in Korean from 2010 to 2023.Results: A total of 210 articles were searched, and a final 26 articles were selected in the analysis based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Three researchers independently coded the characteristics and key content of each paper, including research objectives, methodology, study participants, grit measurement methods, and the relationship between grit and other variables. Subsequently, these coded findings were used to collectively analyze and derive overarching themes through discussion. The analysis results indicated that grit was influenced by factors such as academic major satisfaction, academic performance, and resilience. Grit was found to be a psychological factor affecting nursing students, influencing both major-related competencies and career-related factors.Conclusion: The findings of this review contribute to a deeper understanding of grit within the specific demographic of nursing college students in South Korea and may inform future research and educational practices. In addition, this systematic review provides a comprehensive understanding of the literature on grit among nursing college students in South Korea and serves as a valuable resource for future research and educational interventions in this context.

A systematic review on grit among nursing college students in South Korea

This study examined the effects of an Experience Sharing Self-management Program (ESSP) on physiological indexes, knowledge, and self-management implementation among hypertension and diabetes patients in a primary public health center in G city. A quasi-experimental research was conducted with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group (n=30) participated in a 12-week ESSP, and the control group (n=25) received only general services of a primary public health center between May 1 and October 31 in 2018. Data were analyzed with x2 test (Fisher's exact test), Mann-Whitney test, and Ranked ANCOVA using SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. The results showed significant differences in systolic blood pressure (F=14.56, p<.001), diastolic blood pressure (F=7.05, p=.012), knowledge (F=14.30, p=.001), self-management implementation (F=29.73, p<.001) of hypertension patients, knowledge (F=7.92, p=.010), and self-management implementation (F=4.54, p=.044) of diabetes patients between the two groups. Therefore, the ESSP was effective for reducing the blood pressure of hypertension patients and improving the knowledge and self-management implementation among hypertension and diabetes patients in a primary public health center.

본 연구의 목적은 간호대학생의 학업적 자기효능감, 그릿, 임상추론역량의 상관관계를 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 그리고 간호대학생의 그릿이 학업적 자기효능감과 임상추론역량의 관계에 미치는 매개효과를 탐색하였다. 본 연구는 D시에 재학 중인 4학년 간호대학생 152명을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 자료수집 기간은 2021년 5월 18일부터 7월 2일까지 수행되었다. 수집된 자료는 IBM SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, 독립표본 t-test와 일원분산분석, Pearson’s 상관계수분석, 다중회귀분석 및 매개효과에 대한 통계적 유의성 검정은 Sobel test를 이용하였다. 연구결과 간호대학생의 임상추론역량은 학업적 자기효능감(r=.35, p <.001), 그릿(r=.33, p <.001)과 유의미한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 자기효능감은 그릿과 유의미한 양의 상관관계를 보였다(r=.56, p <.001). 분석결과, 대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 임상추론역량은 전공만족도(F=4.18, p =.017)와 임상실습 만족도(F=6.65, p =.002)에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 간호대학생의 학업적 자기효능감과 임상추론역량의 연관성에서 그릿의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 그릿은 부분매개효과를 나타내었고(Z=2.06, p =.020) 설명력은 14%이었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 향후 간호대학생을 대상으로 학업적 자기효능감과 임상추론역량을 증가시키기 위해 그릿을 강화하기 위한 중재프로그램을 개발할 필요가 있다.
