Characterization of edge effects in twisted nematic liquid crystal displays
Andrés Márquez,Juan Campos,María J. Yzuel,Ignacio Moreno,Jeffrey A. Davis,Claudio Iemmi,A. Moreno,A Robert +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the optical properties of molecules near either edge of the liquid crystal display (LCD) that are unable to twist and tilt under the application of an external electromagnetic field were investigated.

Tagging a Vibrio cholerae El Tor candidate vaccine strain by disruption of its hemagglutinin/protease gene using a novel reporter enzyme: Clostridium thermocellum endoglucanase A
A Robert,Anisia Silva,Jorge A. Benitez,B L Rodriguez,Rafael Fando,Javier Campos,Dilip K. Sengupta,M Boesman-Finkelstein,Richard A. Finkelstein +8 more
TL;DR: The celA gene encoding Clostridium thermocellum endoglucanase A was expressed in Vibrio cholerae on its own promoter and used to tag a candidate El Tor biotype cholera vaccine strain and had a positive effect on colonization in the infant mice model, indicating that celA is a suitable marker gene for V. Cholerae and hap is an appropriate locus for insertion of foreign DNA in vaccine development.

Genetic manipulation of Vibrio cholerae for vaccine development: construction of live attenuated El Tor candidate vaccine strains
Jorge A. Benitez,Anisia Silva,B L Rodriguez,Rafael Fando,Javier Campos,A Robert,Hilda García,Luis F. García,José Luis Monereo Pérez,Reynaldo Oliva,C A Torres,Talena Ledón +11 more
TL;DR: The construction of live attenuated V. Cholerae strains is described by specifically deleting the genes encoding cholera toxin and other putative toxins from the bacterial chromosome by genetic manipulation recent epidemic V. cholerae isolates from Peru.

Production and characterization of a monoclonal antibody against mannose-sensitive hemagglutinin of Vibrio cholerae.
Gustavo Falero,B L Rodriguez,Tania Valmaseda,M.E. Pérez,José Luis Monereo Pérez,Rafael Fando,A Robert,Javier Campos,Anisia Silva,G Sierra,Jorge A. Benitez +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a murine monoclonal antibody against Vibrio cholerae mannose-sensitive hemagglutinin (MSHA) using conventional hybridoma procedures was obtained and one characterized.

Promoter activities in Vibrio cholerae ctx phi prophage.
Rafael Fando,José Luis Monereo Pérez,B L Rodriguez,Javier Campos,A Robert,Luis F. García,Anisia Silva,Jorge A. Benitez +7 more
TL;DR: Comparison of cholera toxin production directed by different gene constructs and S1 nuclease mapping revealed the presence of a ctxB-specific promoter within the ctxA coding sequence, suggesting that this factor could be produced in vivo to contribute to fluid accumulation.
