Climatological Features of Cutoff Low Systems in the Northern Hemisphere
Raquel Nieto,Luis Gimeno,Laura de la Torre,Pedro Ribera,David Gallego,Ricardo García-Herrera,José Agustín García,M. Núñez,A. Redaño,Jerónimo Lorente +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first multidecadal climatology of cutoff low systems in the Northern Hemisphere was presented by using 41 years of NCEP-NCAR reanalysis data and identifying cutoff lows by means of an objective method.
Influence of climate change on IDF curves for the metropolitan area of Barcelona (Spain)
Raül Rodríguez,Xavier Navarro,M. Carmen Casas,Jaime Ribalaygua,Beniamino Russo,Laurent Pouget,A. Redaño +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a total of 114 simulated daily rainfall series, 84 for the period 2000-2099 and 30 for the control period 1951-1999, have been analyzed and the potential changes in the intensity-duration-frequency relationships due to climate change have been investigated.
Estimation of the probable maximum precipitation in Barcelona (Spain)
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors estimate the probable maximum precipitation (PMP) in Barcelona for durations ranging from 5 min to 30 h, using rain records from the Jardi gauge of the Fabra Observatory located in Barcelona (1927-1992) and the urban pluviometric network supported by Clavegueram de Barcelona, S.A. (CLABSA, 1994-2007).
Interannual variability of cut-off low systems over the European sector: The role of blocking and the Northern Hemisphere circulation modes
Raquel Nieto,Raquel Nieto,Luis Gimeno,Luis Gimeno,L. de La Torre,Pedro Ribera,David Barriopedro,Ricardo García-Herrera,Antonio Serrano,A. Gordillo,A. Redaño,Jerónimo Lorente +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of larger scale phenomena such as blocking events and other main circulation modes defined over the Euro-Atlantic region on the interannual variability of cut-off low systems is investigated.
The Estimation of Probable Maximum Precipitation
TL;DR: The 1‐day PMP at 1 km2 spatial resolution over Catalonia has been objectively determined, varying from 200 to 550 mm, and shows remarkable differences compared to the annual mean precipitation arrangement.
