- 01 Jul 2015
TL;DR: In this paper, the capability of micro-calorimeters to detect and mass-resolve neutral atoms and molecules at ~ keV energies, reaching single H-atom resolution, was demonstrated.
Development of cryogenic alpha spectrometers using metallic magnetic calorimeters
P. C. O. Ranitzsch,P. C. O. Ranitzsch,Sebastian Kempf,A. Pabinger,C. Pies,Jan-Patrick Porst,S. Schäfer,Achim Fleischmann,Loredana Gastaldo,Christian Enss,Y. S. Jang,I.H. Kim,M.S. Kim,Yong Hamb Kim,Jong-Man Lee,K.B. Lee,M.K. Lee,Sang Jun Lee,W.S. Yoon,Y.N. Yuryev +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a micro-fabricated magnetic calorimeter coupled to a large-area particle absorber was developed for the detection of alpha particles in FWHM.
Prospects for measuring the (229)Th isomer energy using a metallic magnetic microcalorimeter.
Georgy A. Kazakov,Georgy A. Kazakov,V. Schauer,J. Schwestka,Simon Stellmer,Johannes H. Sterba,Achim Fleischmann,Loredana Gastaldo,A. Pabinger,Christian Enss,Thorsten Schumm +10 more
TL;DR: It is studied, how state-of-the-art magnetic metallic microcalorimeters with an energy resolution down to a few eV can be used to measure the isomer energy of Thorium-229 and the dependence of the attainable precision of the energy measurement on the signal and background count rates and the instrumental resolution.
Metallic magnetic calorimeters for high precision QED tests at GSI/FAIR
C. Pies,A. Pabinger,Sebastian Kempf,Achim Fleischmann,Loredana Gastaldo,Christian Enss +5 more
- 30 Dec 2009
TL;DR: In this paper, a 1×8 detector array for high resolution x-ray spectroscopy of hydrogen-like Uranium at the GSI/FAIR was proposed. But the detectors are designed to have an energy resolution below 30 eV in the relevant energy range up to 100 keV.
