Microbial biodeterioration of cultural heritage and identification of the active agents over the last two decades

The realisation by many developing countries in the last two decades that
tourism can be an important tool in achieving the sustainable development goals of
poverty elimination, environmental sustainability and decent work and economic
growth in general has led many governments to introduce measures aimed at
promoting the development of the industry. However unlike many countries in Eastern
and Southern Africa, countries in the biodiversity rich Central African sub-region only
recently started to adopt measures aimed at the sustainable development of the
industry geared towards the realisation of these goals. The travel and tourism industry
here is still at an embryonic and chaotic stage of development, plagued with a multitude
of challenges contributing less than 3% to GDP and employment. Using qualitative
research methods i.e. semi-structured interviews and field observations, the paper
examines the role of the tourism industry in the attainment of these goals and
consequently tourism’s contribution to local economic development in Cameroon. It
highlights the country’s diverse potentials as well as some of core challenges which are
presently being encountered. The paper concludes by proposing a framework within
which all stakeholders can actively work together towards the realisation of these goals.

The outbreak of Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic caused global economic gloom in the first quarter of 2020 This crisis has particularly impacted tourism, which is the subject of this paper Data regarding air traffic in March 2020 compiled by Polish Air Navigation Services Agency has been put to a detailed analysis Accommodation occupancy rate in this period was analysed using statistics presented by STR company The analyses' conclusion clearly indicates on significant decrease in Poland's tourism in March 2020 Occupancy rate declined in about 40% in comparison to data from last year, with fall in air traffic on Polish airports (resulting from stopping international air links) in about 80-90% in comparison to the same period last year

COVID-19 pandemic's impact on tourism in Poland in March 2020

Romania, due to its historical background, has many vestigial belongings to the cultural heritage, out of which the most noticeable (by number, age, architecture, symbolism and representation) are the wooden churches. Under these circumstances the role of the current study is to emphasize certain practical aspects (focused on the need to assess, preserve, restore and valorize) regarding the use of modern technology based on photogrammetry and 3D scanning. The case study was represented by the "Saint Martyrs Constantin Br.ncoveanu and His Sons" wooden church from Oradea Municipality, Bihor County, Romania;the edifice being included on the list of historical monuments ever since 2010. The final goal being to create 3D models for both the exterior and interior of the monument for research, restoration in case of need, sharing for education, entertainment, tourism purposes etc.
