Objective: This study employed a new method (nonlinear method) called back-propagation network [BPN] to analyze the adoption model of telecare. It is important to inform professionals of the need for medical statistics knowledge to better evaluate new technologies, particularly in health technologies assessment agencies. Methods: This study used face-to-face interviews to collect senior citizens aged over 60 years in Taiwan, and it used BPN based on the technology acceptance model to identify a telecare adoption model. Lastly, this study compared traditional methods and the BPN method. Results: The BPN method is much better than traditional method. Moreover, the main research result showed that people's perceived usefulness must be raised to effectively increase the adoption of telecare. Exploring the acceptance of telecare among senior citizens: an application of back-propagation network.

This paper explores what determines the adoption of health information technologies through the use of a case study of a wireless service prototype developed for patients with diabetes and obesity. A technology acceptance model was used as the basis for developing the theoretical framework, which was later tested through a field study. Results indicated that the usefulness of an e-health service was affected by the quality of service, its compatibility with users’ lifestyle, the quality of support, the quality of information presented in the service, usage time, image, accessibility, and ease-of-use characteristics of the service. Designers should develop services that do not require much usage time as users do not want to spend much time using the service. In addition, users should be able to access data presented in the service quickly and easily when they need it. Customisable menu items and short cut keys can be used to make data access quick and easy.

This paper explores the factors which may affect customers’ choices for online shopping, and thus help online food sellers innovate. A theoretical framework based on technology acceptance model was developed for this sector. A survey instrument was used to validate the framework. We found that the most important factors affecting online food shopping are; the speed of the website, fast response time on online services and kindness and quality of the personnel. Contrary to our estimations, some extra features such as a dietician support for menus, a list of nutritive values for every meal and displaying the ingredients of the meal were found unnecessary by the customers who buy food through online services.

Diffusion of electronic services in the medical industry has gather speed with the help of recent developments in the information and communication technologies. Health information service is one of these services that deal with repository, retrieval and make use of medical information in order to improve service quality and reduce cost. Users - including medical staff, administrative staff and patients - of these systems cannot benefit them in a full capacity unless using them comfortably. Behavior of these adopters is affected by various factors related to both of the technology characteristics, user characteristics, social environment and organizational environment in the adoption process. This research will evaluate determinants of health information service adoption among users and analyze relationship of these determinants with the behavior of the user. Moreover, taxonomy about factors that affect technology usage in medical industry will be developed at the end of the study.
