TL;DR: In this paper, a new type of Beam Loss Monitor (BLM) system is developed for use in the European Spallation Source (ESS) linac, primarily aiming to cover the low energy part (proton energies between 3-100 MeV).

Impact of material thicknesses on fission observables obtained with the FALSTAFF experimental setup
L. Thulliez,D. Doré,E. Berthoumieux,Stefano Panebianco,P. Legou,M. Kebbiri,Y. Piret,J.P. Mols,M. Combet,M. Riallot,A. Marcel,F. Farget,J. Pancin,M.O. Frégeau,X. Ledoux,François-René Lecolley,J. Perronnel,D. Goupillere,Stephan Oberstedt +18 more
TL;DR: The FALSTAFF spectrometer under development at CEA-Saclay, France, is a two-arm two-stage two-armed spectrometers which will provide mass yields before (2V method) and after (EV method) neutron evaporation and consequently access to the neutron multiplicity as a function of mass as discussed by the authors.

- 08 Sep 2019
TL;DR: In this article, a new type of neutron beam loss monitor was developed specifically targeting this region, where only neutrons and photons can be produced and where typical BLM, based on charged particle detection, could not be appropriate because of the photon background due to the RF cavities.

- 01 Apr 2020
TL;DR: In this paper, a new kind of beam loss monitors have been conceived to extend the sensitivity to the low energy region of the high intensity hadron accelerators, based on Micromegas detectors sensitive to fast neutrons.
Recent developments of the FALSTAFF experimental setup
A. Chietera,L. Thulliez,E. Berthoumieux,Diane Doré,Alain Letourneau,P. Legou,M. Kebbiri,Y. Piret,J.P. Mols,Michel Combet,M. Riallot,A. Marcel,J. Pancin,M.O. Frégeau,X. Ledoux,François-René Lecolley,J. Perronnel,D. Goupillere +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new experimental setup called FAL-============¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯STAFF, which is meant to provide a simultaneous characterization of the complementary fragments in terms of mass, kinetic energy and to evaluate the average neutron multiplicity.
