Recently, a RGB image encryption algorithm based on DNA encoding and chaos map has been proposed. It was reported that the encryption algorithm can be broken with four pairs of chosen plain-images and the corresponding cipher-images. This paper re-evaluates the security of the encryption algorithm, and finds that the encryption algorithm can be broken efficiently with only one known plain-image. The effectiveness of the proposed known-plaintext attack is supported by both rigorous theoretical analysis and experimental results. In addition, two other security defects are also reported.

Cryptanalyzing a RGB image encryption algorithm based on DNA encoding and chaos map

Abstract Encryption is an effective way to protect the image information from attacking by intruders in the transmission applications through the Internet. This study presents an image encryption scheme on the basics of the formal model of DNA computing-splicing system and hyper-chaotic system, which utilizes the instinct properties of hyper-chaotic system and splicing model while programming the method. In our proposed algorithm, the quaternary coding is used to split the plain image into four sub-sections so that we can’t get the cipher image without any one sub-section. This new method can be used to change the plain image information drastically. The experimental results and security analysis show that our method not only has a good security but also increases the resistance to common attacks such as exhaustive attacks, statistical attacks and differential attacks.

Splicing Model and Hyper–Chaotic System for Image Encryption

Digital image transmission plays a very significant role in information transmission, so it is very important to protect the security of image transmission. Based on the analysis of existing image encryption algorithms, this article proposes a new digital image encryption algorithm based on the splicing model and 1D secondary chaotic system. Step one is the algorithm of this article divides the plain image into four sub-parts by using quaternary coding, and these four sub-parts can be coded separately. Only by acquiring all the sub-parts at one time can the attacker recover the useful plain image. Therefore, the algorithm has high security. Additionally, the image encryption scheme in this article used a 1D quadratic chaotic system, which makes the key space big enough to resist exhaustive attacks. The experimental data show that the image encryption algorithm has high security and a good encryption effect.

One-Dimensional Quadratic Chaotic System and Splicing Model for Image Encryption

Nowadays, the rapid development of multi-media technology and digital images transmission by the Internet leads the digital images to be exposed to several attacks in the transmission process. Therefore, protection of digital images become increasingly important.  To this end, an image encryption method that adopts Rivest Cipher (RC4) and Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) encoding to increase the secrecy and randomness of the image without affecting its quality is proposed. The Means Square Error (MSE), Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Coefficient Correlation (CC) and histogram analysis are used as an evaluation metrics to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The results indicate that the proposed method is secure against statistical attacks and provides a good security without affecting the quality of the image.

Image Encryption Using DNA Encoding and RC4 Algorithm

In recent times, numerous Internet of Things (IoT) applications have begun to use biometric identity for authentication purposes. The integrity and confidentiality of biometric templates during storage and transmission is crucial as it contains key information on the physical identity of the users. Encryption is an effective template protection technique. However, most of the edge side gadgets in the IoT environment require lightweight encryption schemes due to constraints in available power and memory space. Conventional cryptosystems are expensive because of their complexity and multiple rounds for encryption. In the present work, a lightweight bio-cryptosystem is developed to ensure security while storing and transmitting biometric templates. The proposed bio-crypto architecture has three stages—key generation, confusion and diffusion.
 A two-dimensional logistic sine map is used for key generation. A novel method of diffusion using DNA encoding and ciphering is proposed to decrease the complexity of the encryption process considerably and achieve desirable integrity. Simulations and security analysis indicate that the proposed cryptosystem has sufficient level of security and robustness, involves lesser computational complexity and has the potential of satisfying the requirements of IoT applications.

Lightweight Bio-Chaos Crypt to Enhance the Security of Biometric Images in Internet of Things Applications

A novel image encryption algorithm based on DNA sequence addition operation. This initiation and increasing escalation of Internet has caused the information to be paperless and the makeover into electronic compared to the conventional digital image distribution. In this paper we proposed and implement four phase. First phase, image is renovating into binary matrix. Afterward matrix is apportioning into equal blocks. Second phase, each block is then encoded into DNA sequences and DNA sequence addition operation used to add these blocks. For that result of added matrix is achieved by using two Logistic maps. At the time of decoding the DNA sequence matrix is complemented and we encrypt that result by using DES then we get encrypted image. Our paper includes a novel encryption technique for providing security to image. We have proposed an algorithm which is based on suitable encryption method.
