Hardware Software Partitioning using Particle Swarm Optimization Technique
Mohamed B. Abdelhalim,A.E. Salama,S. E. D. Habib +2 more
- 01 Dec 2006
TL;DR: The authors found that PSO outperforms GA in the cost function and the execution time, while a GA then PSO algorithm gives the same results as the PSO alone.

Implementation of 3D-DCT based video encoder/decoder system
Mohamed B. Abdelhalim,A.E. Salama +1 more
- 10 Jul 2003
TL;DR: This paper focuses on the hardware implementation of the video encoder/decoder system design, where a complete design of the quantizer and VLC in the encoder side, as well as design of dequantizers and VLD in the decoder side is implemented.

Constrained and Unconstrained Hardware-Software Partitioning using Particle Swarm Optimization Technique.
Mohamed B. Abdelhalim,A.E. Salama,S. E. D. Habib +2 more
- 01 Jan 2007
TL;DR: This paper carried out several tests on a hypothetical, relatively-large Hardware/Software partitioning problem using the PSO algorithm as well as the Genetic Algorithm, which is another evolutionary technique, and found that PSO outperforms GA in the cost function and the execution time.
FPGA-based MPEG2 decoder
S. E. D. Habib,Mohamed B. Abdelhalim,A.E. Salama,A. Darwish,A.M. Galal,E.A. Talkhan +5 more
- 11 Dec 2002
TL;DR: This paper describes the design and implementation of a full custom, FPGA-based MPEG2 decoder that is suitable for low cost, multi-standard, standard video decoders.
