Entrepreneurial intention is a rapidly evolving field of research. A growing number of studies use entrepreneurial intention as a powerful theoretical framework. However, a substantial part of this research lacks systematization and categorization, and there seems to be a tendency to start anew with every study. Therefore, there is a need to take stock of current knowledge in this field. In this sense, this paper carries out a review of the literature on entrepreneurial intentions. A total of 409 papers addressing entrepreneurial intention, published between 2004 and 2013 (inclusive), have been analyzed. The purpose and contribution of this paper is to offer a clearer picture of the sub-fields in entrepreneurial intention research, by concentrating on two aspects. Firstly, it reviews recent research by means of a citation analysis to categorize the main areas of specialization currently attracting the attention of the academic community. Secondly, a thematic analysis is carried out to identify the specific themes being researched within each category. Despite the large number of publications and their diversity, the present study identifies five main research areas, plus an additional sixth category for a number of new research papers that cannot be easily classified into the five areas. Within those categories, up to twenty-five different themes are recognized. A number of research gaps are singled out within each of these areas of specialization, in order to induce new ways and perspectives in the entrepreneurial intention field of research that may be fruitful in filling these gaps.

A systematic literature review on entrepreneurial intentions: citation, thematic analyses, and research agenda

Purpose – This work surveys the body of research revolving around big data and analytics in
hospitality and tourism by detecting macro topical areas, research streams and gaps, and develops an
agenda for future research.
Design/methodology/approach – This research is based on a systematic literature review of
academic papers indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases published up to 31 December
2020. The outputs were analyzed using bibliometric techniques, network analysis and topic modeling.
Findings – The number of scientific outputs in research with hospitality and tourism settings has
been expanding over the period 2015–2020, with a substantial stability of the areas examined. The
vast majority are published in academic journals where the main reference area is neither hospitality
nor tourism. The body of research is rather fragmented and studies on relevant aspects, such as big
data analytics capabilities, are virtually missing. Most of the outputs are empirical. Moreover, many
of the articles collected relatively small quantities of records and, regardless of the time period
considered, only a handful of articles mix a number of different techniques.
Research limitations/implications – This study is centered on academic outputs published to the
end of 2020 (the last year for which we have full-year data available). Implications are discussed.
Originality/value – This work sheds new light on the emergence of a body of research at the
intersection of hospitality and tourism management and data science. It enriches and complements
extant literature reviews on big data and analytics, combining these two interconnected topics.

Big data and analytics in hospitality and tourism: a systematic literature review

Several extant contemporary works of literature diagnose the lack of sound theoretical underpinnings of the Digital Entrepreneurship phenomenon. This paper provides a systematic literature review offering insights on the Digital Entrepreneurship phenomenon to generate insights into recent developments in the field. A systematic literature review was conducted to enhance the understanding of the phenomenon. Web of Science and Scopus were employed to identify, extract, select, and review related articles using search keywords. Finally, articles from 25 SSCI-indexed journals were selected for this study. This systematic literature review identifies current research paths on digital entrepreneurship categorizing the key findings into themes, contexts, and methodologies using the TCM framework. Finally, we propose a conceptual model that presents how a traditional enterprise can transform into a digital enterprise. The study contributes to the understanding of the conceptualization of Digital Entrepreneurship by laying the groundwork for further research development encouraging researchers to investigate this phenomenon. 

Digital entrepreneurship research: A systematic review

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration as a socially responsible investment (SRI) from a financial perspective has been discussed extensively. However, few studies discuss its impact on firms’ internal operations from the perspective of sustainable development (SD). This study aims to examine the integration of ESG into the currently prevailing business model. Twenty-nine studies were systematically reviewed. Our analysis used an input–process–output model to identify the integration process and the outcomes. The findings show that only two papers explain the implementation steps or transition process of ESG integration, while 27 papers discuss ESG integration as an outcome, including integration behaviors, advantages, practices, and critical views. Our research aims to highlight that firms adopt ESG as a response to pressure from financial markets rather than as a serious effort to integrate sustainability into their core operations. We state the need for more research into the integration process to motivate firms to reform their business models, foster sustainability, and enhance financial performance.

Environmental, Social, and Governance Integration into the Business Model: Literature Review and Research Agenda

Main aim: This paper examines the main topics of research in the literature studying the topic of sustainability in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), and aims at presenting a future research agenda. Method: We conducted a systematic literature review based on articles published between 2000 and 2020. From an initial set of 88 papers taken from WoS in the period under analysis, 42 papers were effectively analyzed. Main results: The results of an in-depth reading reveal four clusters representing the main topics of research in the field: sustainability and SMEs’ performance; green and environmental management issues; social and cultural issues and their impact on sustainability policies; values, skills, and capabilities. Key findings suggest that the following angles of research appear to be underexplored: theoretically grounded research; research using large samples; articles examining sustainability reporting; research looking into non-manufacturing sectors; work examining settings in developing countries; research undertaking international comparisons; articles exploring the complementarity between the literature on sustainability in SMEs and on family-owned businesses; and the influence of the social and cultural context on SMEs’ engagement with sustainability. Main contribution: This paper offers insights to academia, practitioners, and policy makers to help SMEs engaging with sustainability and may assist also the latter to develop strategies to improve SMEs’ social and environmental reporting. Given the current pandemic crisis, and the urgency for sustainable business practices, we expect to contribute to expanding knowledge in this field of research.

Sustainability in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises: A Systematic Literature Review and Future Research Agenda

The field of CSR in family firms has experienced remarkable growth recently. Therefore, a literature review
on the topic is needed to provide an updated overview of extant research and draw guidelines for future
research. Using bibliometric mapping, we conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) on corporate social
responsibility (CSR) in family business drawing on the Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases. The
bibliographic coupling conducted suggests that family involvement, corporate governance, and sustainability
are the most frequently studied topics. Furthermore, through our SLR, we systematized the studies into an
interpretative framework, identifying the drivers and outcomes of CSR practices, processes, and strategies in
family business. The study reveals and organizes the state-of-the-art of CSR research in family business,
outlines important theoretical implications and develops a future research agenda.
