TL;DR: A new prognostic model based on a general severity score (SAPS II), an organ dysfunction score (LOD) and evolution of both scores during the first 3 days of ICU stay has good discrimination and calibration properties and is proposed for benchmarking and evaluating the over-risk of death associated with ICU-acquired nosocomial infections.

TL;DR: The results indicate, that disturbances of vascular permeability can be observed very early in all trauma patients, however, in patients, developing septic complications (A), a marked hemodynamic response could be seen as well as pronounced edema formation and disturbances in gas exchange.
