F. Kircher,P. Bredy,A. Calvo,B. Curé,D. Campi,A. Desirelli,Pasquale Fabbricatore,Stefania Farinon,A. Hervé,I.L. Horvath,V. Klioukhine,B. Levesy,M. Losasso,J.P. Lottin,Riccardo Musenich,Y. Pabot,A. Payn,C. Pes,C. Priano,F. Rondeaux,Stefano Sgobba +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) was used for the LHC superconducting solenoid experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the expense of a high purity aluminium stabilized conductor, a compact impregnated winding with indirect cooling and quench back protection process.

Mechanical characterization and assessment of the CMS conductor
TL;DR: The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is one of the experiments which are being designed in the framework of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project at CERN as discussed by the authors.
Pre-industrialization activities related to CMS coil winding
P. Fabbricatore,S. Farinon,Riccardo Musenich,C. Pirano,A. Calvo,B. Levesy,F. Rondeaux,M. Perralla,C. D'Urzo +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a pre-industrialization activity for the inner winding of a superconducting solenoid with reinforced conductor has been presented, where the main objectives were: (1) study of the methods for winding a coil using a stiff conductor; (2) design, construction and testing of a prototype winding line; and (3) construction of a model for the fine tuning of the required operation and procedures.

The CMS conductor
I.L. Horvath,B. Dardel,H.-P. Marti,J. Neuenschwander,R.P. Smith,P. Fabbricatore,Riccardo Musenich,A. Calvo,D. Campi,B. Curé,A. Desirelli,G. Favre,P. Riboni,Stefano Sgobba,T. Tardy,S. Sequeira Tavares +15 more
TL;DR: The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is one of the experiments being designed in the framework of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project at CERN, the design field of the CMS magnet is 4 T, the magnetic length is 13 m and the aperture is 6 m as discussed by the authors.
