The impact of organic and mineral fertilizers on soil quality parameters and the productivity of irrigated maize crops in semiarid regions
TL;DR: Pig slurry (PS) is widely used as a fertilizer for the production of maize in Spain this paper, and the results showed that repeated application of PS had a beneficial impact on the soil quality over time but did not improve grain yields.

Stover Management and Nitrogen Fertilization Effects on Corn Production
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between stover management and N fertilization rates in irrigated, high-yielding corn crops such as those in Spain and found that stover incorporation increases soil productivity, thus it should not be considered entirely as a waste product.

Long-term effects of pig slurry combined with mineral nitrogen on maize in a Mediterranean irrigated environment
Elías Martínez,Ángel Maresma,A. Biau,P. Berenguer,Sebastián Cela,Francisca Santiveri,A. Michelena,J. Lloveras +7 more
TL;DR: This paper investigated the performance of sprinkler-irrigated maize crops in a Mediterranean environment with different fertilizer treatments as part of a 12-year experiment (2002-2007, 2010-2015).

Long-term effects of liquid swine manure on soil organic carbon and Cu/Zn levels in soil and maize
Elías Martínez,Ángel Maresma,A. Biau,P. Berenguer,Sebastián Cela,Francisca Santiveri,A. Michelena,J. Lloveras +7 more
TL;DR: A maize field experiment was conducted between 2002 and 2015 in the Ebro Valley (north-east Spain) to determine the effects of long-term liquid swine manure (LSM) application at two rates.
